Nantucket Island, Massachusetts {Photo Diary}
First things first, did you catch my ‘Martha’s Vineyard Photo Diary‘?
That will explain the very reason I made it to the Island of Magic.
And by Island of Magic I mean…
Nantucket Island.
I had honestly never even heard of the little piece of land before I ventured over to it, so I can only assume you are in the same position.
Never fear, Google Maps is here…
Nantucket, like Martha’s Vineyard, is another exclusive Island off the East Coast of the US, most popularly accessed via Cape Cod on the mainland. The roads are lined with Defenders, the beaches with dunes and the streets with high end boutiques.
A simple walk through the town is enough to entertain your dreams for years, but there are also many things to occupy your days should you want to interfere with the chilled island vibes you’ll very quickly adopt.
Whether you explore one of the 4 lighthouses that inhabit on the island, head to the famous ‘Juice Bar’ for the best waffle cupped Ice Cream of your life {there’s ALWAYS a queue and you’ll need cash}, or watch the sunset at Galley Beach with a glass of Vino and a white bean bag – you’ll fall in love very very quickly with the subtle and striking elegance of this island.
For my first day on the island, I engaged with the crew in the second day of ‘The Island Invitational’ event which had us a reserved space at the incredible Cisco Brewery where we basked, bonded and shared favourites with long term islanders.
If you ever find yourself on Nantucket you HAVE to try some of Cisco’s home brewed beverages.
My favourite was the Blueberry Vodka paired with Ginger Ale and Pineapple Juice, but honestly, there wasn’t a drink I didn’t enjoy or appreciate {and I’m typically not a massive fan of alcohol… so this is a massive compliment to Cisco’s distillery}.
Dinner came in unbelievable form at the Nantucket Lobster Trap and after dinner, drinks and dancing continued on at The Chicken Box – both exquisite in their own arenas.
The days following consisted of Defenders in convoy as 12 of us floated around the island, from brunch in Downtown Nantucket to beach bumming and lighthouse exploring there wasn’t a moment that didn’t sparkle.
We may or may not have whacked out the soundbox very spontaneously on several occasions and broken into dance. A true reflection of the pure happiness we were experiencing.
I managed to capture a bit on my YouTube video below…
Nantucket has become a destination to me that I now can’t imagine living without.
Nantucket just has this crazy, traditional American feel without being too over the top, combined with a Californian come Bondi Beach vibe that I can’t quite put my finger on. Nantucket is an escape worlds apart from it’s bustling neighbour city of New York {which I am actually yet to experience}, and I think that surprised me.
It made it that extra bit special.
In a ridiculously short space of time, I made some friends that I know will last a lifetime {always a great sign} and I couldn’t be happier that I chose to spontaneously book my flight 18 hours before I jumped on it.
Nantucket has a sense of magic that can only be realised through experience, and I hope for everyone sake that you guys get there to experience it, and I, to experience it once again.
+ Thank YOU guys for reading <3
