The Best Brunch Spots in Newquay, Cornwall

Are you planning a trip to Cornwall or already on your adventure here? Looking for the best brunch spots in Newquay? I got you. You’ve arrived at the right travel guide.

I’ve lived in Newquay for the last 4 years, and I would say I’ve well and truly brunched my way around the town, so in this Newquay travel guide, I’m going to list all the best spots you should consider and why.

For those of you new to this area of the UK, Newquay is a buzzing coastal town on the north coast of Cornwall, South West England. Newquay is a destination famous for its world-class surf (hello Fistral Beach), epic coastal paths, and laid-back Byron Bay kinda lifestyle.

It’s a hotspot for surfers, wellness honeys, adventure travellers, and, increasingly, foodies. Thanks to a wave of new and legendary creative culinary minds in town, cafes in Newquay are redefining brunch culture and there are now some really incredible menus showcasing and celebrating local Cornish produce.

Whether you’re planning a weekend break, a summer holiday or you’ve recently moved to Cornwall, get these Newquay brunch spots on your bucket list and let me know how you get on…

How to Get to Newquay + Tips for Planning Your Visit

Getting To Newquay

If you’re flying in, the easiest option is to land at Newquay Cornwall Airport, which has regular flights from cities like London, Manchester, Dublin and seasonal connections from across Europe. Newquay is a tiny airport, and it’s just a 45-minute flight to London so it’s a great alternative to getting the train (and sometimes works out a lot cheaper too!).

Alternatively, you can take the 4 hour train from London Paddington to Newquay Station, or drive in via the A30 if you’re exploring Cornwall by car (which I recommend for flexibility).

Where to Stay In Newquay

If you’re looking to explore Newquay for the weekend, I’d highly recommend getting yourself a spot on Pentire or Fistral Beach side of town. This area tends to be a little more expensive but honestly, you’ll be walking distance from the best beaches, shops, and – of course – the best brunch spots in Newquay. It will save you time and money from not needing to park too! Either take a look on Airbnb or check out The Headland Hotel, Lewinnick Lodge, or The Fistral Beach Hotel & Spa on booking.com.

Best Time to Visit Newquay

The best time to visit Newquay, in my opinion, is in the shoulder seasons so either May, June, September, or October. During these times, you’re more likely to experience the warmer, sunnier days but without the crazy tourism. Come July and August, the summer holidaymakers descend on Newquay and the roads, beaches, streets and brunch spots get very busy!!

That said, Cornwall is magical year-round. It’s such a vibe to cosy up with a hot chocolate or brunch in Newquay after a winter surf or a cold dip and sauna.

The best things to do in Newquay, Cornwall

The Best Brunch Spots in Newquay

Basket

Serving up your daily fix of Monmouth coffee, homemade cakes, breakfast and lunches, Basket is a local favourite run by the amazing Jade, who you’ll often find in the kitchen spinning her magic on the dishes herself.

Jade’s recipes and dishes are always packed with flavour, chutneys, jams and salads that are mostly made in-house. Whether you’re looking to pick up something to go, a nice brunch date spot or your morning coffee drip – head to Tower Road, you won’t be disappointed.

My favourites are the matcha, the halloumi Caesar salad wrap and the halloumi and egg ciabatta with chilli jam and rocket! Get around it!

Sabzi Deli

Tucked away in Nansledan, just on the outskirts of Newquay, is this little gem that opened a year or two ago now by owner Kate after the success of the first Sabzi over in Truro.

As per their website… The food takes its inspiration from the cuisine of Kate’s childhood; Iranian and Middle Eastern cooking is the heart of the business, and it is a source of great pride to Sabzi’s team that all dishes are prepared on site, to Sabzi’s own recipes.

The menu here at Sabzi is so fresh and full of flavour and it changes daily to reflect the produce available locally. There are usually a variety of salads and dhal available, which you can enjoy a combination of in a box size of your choice, depending on how hungry you are. They also have some delicious sweet treats and hot drinks available – the Persian Love cake being an iconic Sabzi choice.

If you’re looking for brunch in Newquay but feel less like eggs and more like getting a variety of colours and flavours onto your plate – head to Sabzi. There’s indoor and outdoor seating!

See some examples of the food they offer here.

Milk

Another local’s favourite, run by Becci, is Milk. Located right in town by Sainsbury’s, this is definitely one of the best brunch spots in Newquay.

Make this your go-to spot for an impeccable morning coffee, for a healthy smoothie or to pick up one of their famous bagels. The Mexican bagel is my absolute favourite and goes down a treat post surf or post hike!

The cabinet of bakes and treats at the counter are mostly made with love in-house by Becci so if you’re heading down, make sure you leave room to try one!

I recently had the iced lavender matcha with coconut milk (Rude Health yay) and it was so GOOD. The interior is absolutely stunning too (it was refurbished last year), so if you have time, make it a coffee to enjoy inside!

Fern Pit Beach Kitchen

This one of the best brunch spots in Newquay and is somewhere I always take friends and family when they come to visit. Why? Because the view is my absolute favourite and the food (and cream tea) never misses a beat.

If you’re looking to come for brunch, they serve their breakfast menu from 9am – 11.30am, which has all of the eggs, avo and brioche baps vibes in. Then from 12pm they serve up from an amazing menu woven with local Cornish seafood. See here.

There’s plenty of indoor and outdoor seating looking over The Gannel & Crantock Beach so if there’s a little sunshine, get yourself down here and enjoy al fresco. This makes for a memorable brunch in Newquay.

Gwenna Teahouse, Porth

I actually only discovered this Newquay brunch spot recently. I walked with some friends from Newquay along the coast to Porth on a fine Sunday morning and ended up ‘giving this place a go’ because we were hungry.

Located a few steps off of Porth Beach and with a warm, cosy tea house interior, Gwenna Teahouse serves up a full breakfast menu until 11.30 am. We had the classics, sausage and bacon roll, scrambled eggs on toast and a pot of tea! It was delightful. Really gorgeous quality ingredients and the friendliest of service. Highly recommend taking a walk to Porth and combining it with brunch here. The best brunch in Newquay if you want to go on a little adventure and cosy up with a well-deserved plate of food! See menu here.

Newquay Rowing Club

Okay, I’ve never actually been to the Rowing Club for brekkie myself but I’ve heard MANY amazing things about the full English breakfast here. Located on the harbour front, here at the Newquay Rowing Club, you can pick yourself up a full English with a view across the harbour (if you get a balcony table!).

Serving up breakfast until 11.30am this is a guaranteed spot to satisfy your belly but not empty your wallet (unlike some places in Newquay these days!).

Box & Barber

Located right in the centre of town on Fore Street, Box & Barber is a great brunch spot choice if you’re looking for somewhere to sit down and have a fancy brekkie in an aesthetically pleasing environment. Box & Barber blends beachy vibes with Aussie-inspired brunch and is a huge hit with the tourists so come summer, it can be hard to get a table.

Expect flat whites with the latest coffee, smoothie bowls and your usual crowd pleasers, (smashed avo on sourdough vibes). The outdoor seating area is a suntrap, making it perfect for post-surf lounging or for enjoying your Sunday morning coffee. Check out their menu here

Pavilion Bakery

Originally from Hackney, Pavilion Bakery brings London bakery vibes to the Cornish coast. It’s technically a bakery, but don’t let that fool you – they do some great food options. Grab a seat and enjoy flaky pastries, epic egg rolls, and coffee that hits the spot every time. Oh and if you’re looking to pick up a load of the best sourdough in town – this is your spot!

Sprout Health Foods Café

Healthy, colourful, and filled with good vibes, Sprout Café is where you go when you want your brunch to be as nutritious as it is delicious. Located inside the Sprout Health Foods shop, tucked away in the centre of town, this gem offers seasonal dishes and daily pots that are guaranteed to nourish you. This is your spot to get a health elixir with a plant based milk of your choice, the cacao is notably good here. Highly recommend.

For those looking to cook up their own DIY brunch, this is also a great spot to pick up consciously sourced ingredients and diet friendly alternatives.

Fore Street Café Bar

Set just above Newquay Harbour, Fore Street is another great brunch spot located in the centre of town. The menu is full of Cornish twists on brunch favourites and if the sun is out, you can enjoy brunch in the sunshine whilst people watching in one of the busiest spots in Newquay! Think crab omelettes, Cornish sausage rolls with a gourmet edge, and another spot for seriously good coffee.

Sea Spray Café

This is another coastal favourite perched on the cliff at North Fistral Beach, offering the best brunch views in Newquay. Fact.

They have plenty of indoor seating but also an outdoor terrace, which on a sunny day will allow you to enjoy your brunch whilst admiring the most stunning beach in Newquay. The menu has all the crowd pleasers on, the bakes cabinet includes all of your vegan and gluten-free treat options and the coffee is up there with the best in Newquay too.

I have to be honest, the prices are a little higher here, but if a good view and a good vibe is what you’re after, Sea Spray won’t disappoint. It’s worth experiencing once on your Newquay adventure!

And in case the time is crossing from brunch to lunch and you fancy something a little more than eggs, here’s another couple of fantastic dining options (some of the very best in Newquay I’d say)…

The Fish House

The Fish House is one of the best restaurants in Newquay and definitely the best seafood restaurant in Newquay! So much so it’s often hard to get a table if you don’t book in advance.

Below you can see us enjoying a light lunch of fish tacos overlooking the beach at South Fistral. They were amazing!!!!

If you’re down for more of a lunch vibe, they open at 12pm and you will have ticked one of the best off of your Newquay foodie list!

The Jam Jar

The Jam Jar is a small but mighty brunch joint that’s all about locally sourced ingredients and ridiculously good coffee. Their shakshuka, loaded breakfast wraps, and signature granola bowls are worth ordering, and their stunning decor makes for a gorgeous brunch experience. Visit their Instagram for the latest specials

P.s. Come afternoon, the pizza oven goes on and you can get yourself the best pizza in Newquay! See below!

Whether you’re after ocean views, vegan treats, or the best eggs benny in Cornwall, these best brunch spots in Newquay are going to leave you with a very happy belly.
