Bali by bike – Mt. Batur, Tegenungan Waterfall, Coffee plantation

As usual we made friends with the locals and he offered to escort us on a tour around the island and show us the hot spots.
8am start. Fresh orange juice, toast and fruit to kick off the day…

Rice fields

Tegenungan Waterfalls, Ubud, Bali.

Myself and Lan.

I get so excited when I see a pack of pink crisps, obviously thinking it’s prawn cocktail. But the crisps in Thailand, Malaysia and now Indonesia are strange.  They aren’t what us Brits assume them to be. They have THE most random flavours.

Salt and vinegar seems to be extinct, and replaced with seaweed.
Blue as you can see is Salmon Teriyaki.
Etc…
A small but relevant disappointment.

127 steps down to the waterfall…

Local wood carving

Whilst I rode the moped, Leanne hopped on the back and took lead role of photographer…

She managed some lovely tree photos, one of some locals having a bath in the stream…

…one of the road

and one very artistic angle of herself.

🙂

Coffee bean plantation

Cooking the beans…

…grinding the beans.

Was about to correct myself but found that funny so left it. But it’s grounding the beans? Oh I don’t know, you get what I mean…

aren’t we domestic…

Then we got to try all their different flavours…

I’m not a massive coffee fan unless it is milky and sugary, however I went ahead and tasted a couple.

YUM.
Coconut coffee. So so nice!
So nice I bought some to bring home with me:-)

Rainy season ends in April in Bali…

…apparently.

Leanne perfectly summing up our opinion on the rain.

We purchased rain macs and continued up to the volcano. The rain passed and Mr.Tour guide took us to a beautiful restaurant overlooking the volcano.

Here is my all time favourite photo of Leanne.

It seems whenever we ascend in altitude we get the giggles and go a little crazy. Don’t want to scar you with photos so I’ll save them for my own amusement.

Banana fritters with melon and honey, plus my first cup of tea since we begun travelling 🙂
Beautiful view huh?
Even at the top of the volcano we continued to promote my music…not even sure if they have Internet access up there but it’s always worth a go!

Myself and Lan.

Cheers 🙂

Teaching Mr.Tour guide how to use a camera…

Okay I give in, here’s a little amusement…

Tea + Mt. Batur.

Restaurant 🙂

It was a long ride back up from the volcano and eye spy just wasn’t going to cut it. Instead we decided to see how many ‘hellos’ we could get back from passing vehicles…and just random people on the side of the road.

In England, if two girls rode past beeping the horn smiling and waving shouting hellloooo!!!! you would probably get a dirty look and people would wonder what on earth you have to be so happy about.
That is what sucks about England and what I love about everywhere we have travelled so far.
Everyone is just so happy and carefree.
The smiles became infectious and we were in fits of laughter at the different reactions to our wonderfully immature behavior. Laughing to the point out jaw ached.
It took until we nearly fell of our moped to  stop and be serious.
But for the time it lasted- we shared a bit of happiness and created some of our own…
best things in life really are free.

After a long day on the bikes we arrived back to our hotel at 7pm, shattered.
We are staying at Puri Homestay in Ubud, Bali. The accommodation is SO beautiful here and we have a honeymoon suite with the most beautiful intricate detail. £7 each a night!
It even has a bath…THAT WORKS.
So I had my first bath in nearly 8 weeks. (ew I know)

After relax time we went to a local restaurant for a spot of dinner and then retired to the wifi and headed to bed.

Another hard days work in the office…
