Koh Lanta

Another day, another island.
It took 4 hours to get from Railay to here at Koh Lanta.
The rain had stopped but the clouds had decided to linger for a little longer.
We checked in at Lanta New Beach
bungalows, Khlong Klong beach, and ceased to explore our new home.
But first we fueled up at our resorts cafe.
We faced the sea and flipped a coin (mentally).
Left or right.
Left it was.
We walked and walked and walked and walked and it appeared like we had arrived at another desolate island!
Only footprints to be seen were our own.
This was kind of peaceful, but inside we were praying for civilisation…

…but all we got was a washed up ginormous chicken nugget.

At this time of year it’s classed as low season and most of the beach bars and resorts are now shut. Koh Lanta is known for being quiet anyway but we hadn’t expected it to be this quiet.

Next morning the sun came out and we forgot all about how quiet it was here…

Banana shake 🙂

I have had so many moments of heaven on this trip and they just keep on coming…

Leanne went for cheese on toast… although I’m not sure you can even call it that?!

Surely took a lot of effort to cut the cheese that small?

I have no idea what these things are called but I now refer to them as the mini Cornish pasty. They are a local delicacy- a little pastry with a nutty sweet filling which is so yum!!! 10 baht for a pack which is about 22p!

today’s agenda…

We got a little restless and a little hungry so we grabbed a moped and hunted down somewhere to eat. We rode down lots of beach roads to find 80% of restaurants shut for the low season…

But we found somewhere and then headed to the postcard location, Long Beach.

closest thing to exercise I’ve seen in a while!

myself and Lan 🙂

Long beach

They asked for a photo of us so it was only polite to take one of them…

Little picnic on the beach:-)

…BEST PART.

Then we took our own postcard photos, Leanne- the cameras this way!!!!!

That’s the one…

Dizzy dinosaurs…

got there in the end…

As we returned to our resort a Thai man approached us.

‘cocktails, happy hour, food, mushrooms’
MUSHROOMS! You’ll be pleased to know we passed this offer up.
Banana and Pineapple daiquiris instead.

Our resort was in the PERFECT spot so we lay for a couple of hours and watched it go down.

I’ll shut up now, the pictures speak for themselves…

‘Even the sun sets in paradise’
…and when it does the bugs come out and bite you and you spend your life applying Tiger Balm…

Leanne and I were literally like two kids the night before you go on holiday to Disney. We were that excited to get back to Koh phi phi!

6am start and we were ready for anything Phi phi had to offer us…

5 weeks down- 4 weeks left 🙂
