Bestival with STA Travel, Isle of Wight – #STAtravelhostel

Lots of music, lots of people, lots of dancing and lots of food… sounds wonderfully appealing to me! Hence why festivals happen to be one of my FAVOURITEST things.
So, as you can imagine, when STA invited me along to try out their brand new pop up hostel on site at Bestival, I couldn’t really say no… could i?

I shifted about my weekend plans and managed to make it over to the Isle of Wight half way through the festival on the Saturday afternoon.
Not ideal, as i did miss some of my favourite DJ’s on the Friday night, BUT it’s definitely better than nothing right!
I bought along my friend AJ (see her blog here) for the ride & well I couldn’t think of better company.
We met on the train to Portsmouth, hopped on the 20 minute ferry across to Ryde Pier head, where we then caught a taxi (£20) for the last leg of the journey.

So, what on earth is the STA hostel?!
For the first time this year, STA travel (the student travel company I booked my backpacking trips to OZ, SE Asia and New Zealand through) ran a pop up hostel with 2 private rooms and an 8 bed dorm.
None of the rooms were actually on sale this year. It was kind of a trial for them to see how well it went down.

So… how did it go down?
THE STA HOSTEL WAS AWESOME. AND YES, IT WENT DOWN VERY WELL INDEED.
(with me anyway, particularly the ‘getting into a proper bed instead of a tent’ part)
The hostel was located on the camping fields so exactly where everyone else sets up home, meaning we didn’t have to travel off of the festival site to access it.
Not only was the hostel hosting guests for the weekend, it was open 12pm – 9pm every day to the public (festival goers).
There morning yoga sessions to sweat and stretch out the hangover, henna and face painting, ping pong tables, drumming workshops, an array of live DJ’s, live music and of course a dance floor with everyones name on it!
If you fancied it, STA also had their dedicated bus at the festival, filled with travel brochures and travel experts ready to fuel and help you with your next adventure.
Of course i needed no encouragement to head inside and inspire my next trip…
(my bucket list continues)
We had an absolute BLAST at the hostel, and like i mentioned before, having a bed to snuggle into after a hard day raving was WONDERFUL.
Particularly when England did what it did best on the last night and absolutely CHUCKED IT DOWN.
I know festivals are about camping and i’m all about embracing the lifestyle, and the ‘roughing it’…
BUT the hostel is still in the centre of all the action so you can still fully embrace the atmosphere. Just with a plug socket, bed and some clean showers and toilets.
Perfect if you ask me!

I’ll keep you updated on the plans for the STA Travel hostel next year – as i’ve had a lot of you (obviously) LOVING the idea!
I am also editing together all my GoPro footage from the festival as we speak, which will be live on my YouTube channel in the next week!
But if you can’t wait until then, I’ve uploaded a few snippets to my Instagram already… just search ‘molliebylett’.
For now, here’s the best of our photos from the weekend!
Thank you SO much STA for having us!
