Japanese Ramen at Shoryu, Covent Garden
“Konnichiwa!”
upon arrival at Shoryu from one of the waitresses was all it took be completely transported straight back to Niseko, where I spent a week in February.
(Konnichiwa is ‘hello’ in Japanese.)
I absolutely fell in LOVE with Japan during my visit in February and though Hirafu, where I stayed, was a pretty touristy ski location, the taste of Japanese culture was enough for me to book another flight back in September to explore Tokyo.
Watch this space for more Japanese adventure!

The thing I love most about the multicultural dining options on offer in London is the opportunity to step out of your London life and into another culture, even just for lunchtime.
When you haven’t got the time or money yet for the real thing, these experiences are the best alternatives!
Japanese food is by far my favourite cuisine to eat as it’s so light and easy to digest on-the-go but it’s also seriously indulgent and incredibly satisfying.
Japanese restaurants also ALWAYS have matcha infused dishes and beverages on the menu which, if you know me, gets me extremely excited. So I of course began my dining experience at Shoryu with an iced matcha latte.
Note: they have matcha cheesecake #justsayin
I thought I’d share this hotspot with you in case you’re looking for a dining option that’s a little different, but still pretty casual…
Location…
Covent Garden – Nearest tube is Holborn (Central line) or Tottenham Court Road (Central/ Northern line)
Shoryu also have other locations in London and beyond which you can explore here
My favourite dishes…
- Shoryu Ganso Tonkotsu (signature ramen)
- Edamame (obviously)
- Shoryu buns (the grilled halloumi & shimeji mushrooms one)
- Enoki Butter (stir-fried enoki mushroom with butter, ponzu & spring onion)
My favourite drink…
The pink Geisha!!! A delicate sour mix with jinzu gin (Japanese gin), americano cocchi rosa, josen sake, lychee puree, fresh raspberry and a dash of rose water
Shoryu also do a bottomless Sunday brunch which is definitely worth noting…
For just £38 per person the bottomless brunch includes:
- Unlimited drinks: red and white house wine, sparkling wine, Kobai plum wine with soda, green tea and Calpico.
- Starters:Â edamame and a choice of Shoryu Bun.
- Choose four sides from: chicken karaage, tiger prawn tempura, takoyaki, black sesame tofu and Hakata tetsunabe gyoza (to name just a few).
- Bottomless ramen: Shoryu ganso tonkotsu, piri piri tonkotsu, white natural and curry ramen.
- Dessert: two scoops of ice cream.
